The three states

One lens, three versions

Depending on the UV intensity present, SolaraPRO automatically adopts the state that best protects your vision.

Without UV exposure, photochromic molecules remain in their original form, without absorbing visible light. The lens is completely transparent.

Ideal for office work, reading, use in vehicles (windshields filter UV) and any indoor environment.

Under moderate UV, molecules begin to change conformation, partially absorbing visible light. The lens takes on an intermediate shade.

This happens even on cloudy days, because clouds don't fully block UV radiation — they only attenuate it.

Under intense direct sunlight, virtually all molecules activate their dark form, blocking most visible light.

The protection is equivalent to that of a quality sun lens.

The chemistry behind

The activation process

Everything happens at the molecular level in fractions of a second, with no mechanical parts or user intervention.

UV Exposure

Ultraviolet radiation from the sun reaches the lens surface. Even through clouds or partial shade, some UV radiation penetrates.

Molecular conformation change

The photochromic molecules in the Spin Photo treatment absorb UV photons. This triggers a rearrangement of their chemical bonds, changing their three-dimensional structure.

Visible light absorption

The new molecular conformation absorbs wavelengths of the visible spectrum, making the material appear darker. The greater the UV intensity, the more complete the reaction.

Reversal when UV is removed

Without UV stimulus, the reaction is thermodynamically unstable. Molecules spontaneously revert to their original state, and the lens recovers its transparency within minutes.

SolaraPRO blocks 100% of UV-A and UV-B radiation, regardless of the lens's darkening state. You don't need to wait for the lens to darken to be protected.
